Regional Manager - Charlottesville Area

Coffee or hospitality experience is preferred, but not necessary.

  • ABOUT THE ROLE
    Grit Coffee is looking for a Regional Manager to oversee 3-4 shops in the Charlottesville area.
    Downtown - Pantops - The Workshop. (Plus possible future location)

    This role ensures each location upholds our high standards for product quality, customer service, and operational excellence, while supporting and developing our Shop Leads and teams.

    As Regional Manager, you’ll balance big-picture leadership with hands-on involvement. You’ll guide hiring and training, coach leaders, manage shop performance, and foster collaboration across departments. This is a full-time role that requires flexibility for seasonal needs and includes at least one working shift per week at each shop in your region.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Hiring Understand when hiring needs to take place, then work with the HR director to post, interview, reference check, and onboard needed team members. 

    • Training Responsible for “training the trainers”, ShopLead level training, and ensuring that all training taking place in your shops is executed to the same high standard. Keep all training material and references up to date. Work with other RM’s to have regular training “bootcamps”. 

    • Team Leadership & Accountability 30 day check ins; mediation as needed including write ups, warnings, and disciplinary actions; Staff reviews (annual) and raises per performances reviews 

    • POS & Software Management Thorough knowledge of POS ; ability to troubleshoot POS; Online order mgmt.
      Google holiday and special hour management 

    • Equipment & Facilities Identifying problem areas/areas for improvement, communication with facilities team and outside  vendors, basic regular maintenance, troubleshooting; follow up 

    • Shift Coverage Facilitating/support communication across shops and regions as needed; step in as last resort as needed for open shifts 

    • Vendor Communication Work with SL’s to ensure accurate and efficient ordering, delivery, tracking, and waste recording is taking place. Work with the designated Grit Manager responsible for each vendor relationship to ensure any needed changes are addressed; invoice/delivery discrepancies

    • Inter-departmental Communication Ensure productive communication between departments as needed

    • Regional Level Communications Communicate updated processes and information regarding daily tasks, regional events, company changes, seasonal drinks etc.

    • Labor Management Work with the SL to structure shifts to meet labor % goals; hold SL accountable to said goals

    • Time Card Management verification/approval, find and correct trends

    • Cash Management deposits, cash, etc. 

    • Shop Needs Determine, source, and follow up; amazon, webstaurant, warehouse, printing, vinyl, etc. 

    • License Maintenance Work with the facilities team to ensure all VDH licenses and inspections are up to date. 

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    • Experience managing multiple retail or food & beverage locations.

    • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.

    • Operational know-how with scheduling, labor goals, and POS systems.

    • Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and step in as needed.

    • ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).

    • A collaborative, values-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    • Annual salary: $45,000–$50,000 (Based on experience. Reviewed annually).

    • 15 days Paid Time Off (prorated by start date).

    • Health insurance (with $310 monthly employer contribution) after 30 days.

    • Vision & dental insurance after 60 days.

    • Life insurance coverage.

    • Simple IRA with 3% company match.

    Paid parental leave: up to 12 weeks at base pay (after 18 months full-time).

  • 40-45 hrs per week 

    Minimum of 20 hours per week “on bar” in your shops; with the goal of one shift per week at each shop in your region

    Weekly : 

    1x1 with each Shop Lead 

    Regional Management meeting 

    1x1 with General Manager of Grit
