KITCHEN MANAGER - HEAD CHEF

Selvedge is currently looking for an energetic back of house leader to fill the Kitchen Manager / Head Chef role.

  • LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT

    • Train, schedule, and manage all BOH team members

    • Lead onboarding, ongoing training, and annual performance reviews in partnership with the Executive Chef 

    • Maintain BOH training materials, station guides, and prep standards

    • Support hiring needs and coverage planning

    • Work in partnership with the Selvedge Taproom General Manager to align BOH operations with overall taproom goals, staffing needs, and service standards

    KITCHEN OPERATIONS

    • Oversee daily kitchen operations during service, ensuring consistent menu execution 

    • Maintain recipe standards, portion control, ticket times, and food quality

    • Coordinate closely with FOH leadership during high-volume service and events

    • Adjust prep and staffing levels based on sales trends and reservations

    ORDERING, INVENTORY & COST CONTROL

    • Order all food, dry goods, and kitchen supplies, prioritizing local sourcing when possible

    • Manage inventory, waste, and food cost targets

    • Communicate supply issues or menu constraints to leadership

    MENU & GUEST EXPERIENCE

    • Assist with menu development, seasonal updates, and limited-time offerings

    • Ensure BOH readiness for promotions, events, and large group reservations

    • Address BOH-related guest feedback as needed

    SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen

    • Ensure compliance with health department standards and internal safety policies

    • ServSafe certification

    GENERAL 

    • Working knowledge of POS systems

    • Ability to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment

    • Availability to work weekends and events

    • Keep up-to-date on all communications via Slack, email, and daily shift notes.

    DIRECT REPORTS : All back-of-house Selvedge team members

    REPORTS TO: Tucker Yoder | Executive Chef, Partner

    • Salary: $50,000-$60,000 annually 

    • Compensation reviewed annually.

    BENEFITS

    • Paid Time Off: 15 days 

      • PTO may not be carried over to the following year. 

      • Additional time may be permitted with no pay and advance notice.

      • In addition to PTO, Selvedge  is closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. 

    • Health Insurance: Salaried employees are eligible to join the company health plan and receive a $310 employer contribution starting on the first of the month following 30 days of employment  

    • Vision and Dental: Employees are eligible to join the company vision and dental plan on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.

    • Group Life Insurance 

    • Simple IRA: Matched by The Wool Factory by up to 3% of the employee’s salary. 

    • Parental Leave: 

      • For birth or adoption, you will be eligible for up to twelve (12) weeks of leave at base pay; after 18 months of consecutive full time employment.

  • 40 - 45 hrs per week 

    Schedule is flexible, but must be agreed upon in advance with direct supervisor 

    • Meetings: 

      • Selvedge Management Meeting; bi-weekly

      • Executive Chef, Tucker  bi-weekly 

      • SLVG FOH Manager,  Casey + MODs; monthly

    Selvedge Operating Hours 

    Sunday - 12pm - 9pm

    Monday & Tuesday - 3pm - 9pm 

    Wednesday & Thursday - 12pm - 9pm

    Friday & Saturday - 12pm - 10pm
