SUMMARY
The Shop Lead sets the tone for the shop's atmosphere, ensuring every guest feels welcome and every shift runs smoothly. This role champions The Wool Factory & Grit Coffee’s standards of service, quality, and hospitality while fostering a positive, collaborative culture among the team. The Shop Lead takes pride in the craft of coffee, the stewardship of the shop, and the honest expression of our Core Values every day.

Leadership & Culture
Lead by example, modeling positivity, professionalism, and our core values for both staff and guests.

Hold team members constructively accountable to our service and operational standards.
Training & Development
Conduct barista training for new hires in alignment with Regional Manager guidance.
Encourage curiosity and learning around coffee varieties, brewing methods, and the full café menu.
Maintain and update the Active Employee list, tracking reviews, tests, and other performance milestones.
Communication
Communicate clearly and proactively with shop staff, the Regional Manager, and other Grit management regarding staff concerns, shop operations, facilities, supplies, and guest feedback.
Respond promptly to all Slack messages; same day on working days.
Operations
Oversee day-to-day shop operations to ensure smooth, efficient service and consistent quality.
Conduct regular equipment maintenance and assist with troubleshooting, coordinating with the Regional Manager as required.
Develop and maintain a working understanding of Square POS, online ordering, and loyalty systems.
Collaborate with and support other regional Shop Leads as needed.
Maintain wine inventory in the Workshop in collaboration with the Wine Buyer.
Collaborate with and support Wool Factory Event & Broadcloth management as needed.
Staffing & Scheduling
Create and publish weekly staffing schedules using the When I Work app/website.
Ensure staff keep their availability current in When I Work.
Monitor and adjust staffing levels to meet business needs, communicating changes or and needs to the Regional Manager and HR.
Administrative Duties
Place and manage orders for all necessary goods and supplies by established deadlines, maintaining proper inventory levels.
Update pastry pars weekly or as needed.
Reconcile time cards accurately and on schedule.
Complete merchandise inventory on the 1st of the month at The Workshop.
Maintain an accurate weekly Scorecard and meet weekly with your direct supervisor.
Attend a monthly virtual Shop Lead meeting for all Shop Leads.
General Requirements
Must be able to stand for 8+ hrs and lift up to 30lbs

COMPENSATION
Admin | $18/hr flat rate
Pantops Shop Lead On-Bar | $14/hr + tips
Workshop Shop Lead On-Bar | $15/hr + tips
BENEFITS
Paid Time Off: 90 hours per year starting February 1, 2025 (prorated based on start date)
PTO may not be carried over to the following year.
Additional time may be permitted with no pay and advance notice.
Health Insurance: Hourly employees are eligible for the company health plan and receive a $310 employer contribution starting on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

HOURS / SCHEDULE
30-40 total hours per week
On-bar | 20-25 hours per week
Minimum one (1) scheduled on-bar shift per week at The Workshop
Minimum three (3) scheduled on-bar shifts per week at Grit Pantops
Admin | 5-8 hours per week

Barista experience: 1 year (Required)
